Inspired by conductor/arranger Paul Campbell, in May 2020 the Ulster Orchestra began a new initiative entitled ‘Your Song Now’, calling for songs from local writers, reflecting on life and their own experiences of the COVID-19 Lockdown. From 69 entries, nine songwriters were selected to work on their songs with mentors Duke Special, Kitt Philippa and Paul Campbell, culminating in this special recording, performed with the Ulster Orchestra.
Amid these tumultuous times, our creativity cannot be contained and can, instead, shine a light into our world and onto our situation. These are our songs, from our place to yours.
